WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN 
ATTENDING TOWN MEETING 

Monday, May 11, 2026

6:00 PM

The meeting will be held in the Wellfleet Elementary School Gymnasium.

There will be an overflow room available in the school cafeteria, in case voter turnout exceeds the capacity of the gym.  Any voters in the overflow room will be able to participate fully in debate through a two-way audio hookup, so that voters in both the gym and the cafeteria can hear and speak to both rooms.

For this meeting, any non-voters attending the meeting will be directed to the overflow room to ensure that the maximum number of voters can be accommodated in the gym itself.  This restriction does not apply to Town staff, who are required to attend Town Meeting by Wellfleet's charter (Section 2-7-5).

There will be no powerpoint presentations. There will be motion booklets handed out to all registered voters. 

Voters may have handouts included in the motions booklet. Handouts to be included in the motions booklet are limited to one page, double-sided and must be signed by a registered Wellfleet voter. For inclusion in the motions booklet, handouts must be submitted to Executive Assistant Rebekah Eldredge no later than 2 PM on Friday, May 1, 2026. Email handouts to Rebekah.Eldridge@wellfleet-ma.gov.

Other handouts may be placed on the tables in the entrance hall for voters to pick up as they are checking in.  Handing leaflets directly to voters will only be permitted outside the entrance doors to the gym and may not interfere with voters arriving to check-in for Town Meeting.

Town Meeting is a non-partisan legislative body.  Please do not wear campaign buttons or clothing Town Meeting.  Campaigning for local, state or federal elections is permitted only outside the school gym, and only in a manner that will not interfere with arriving voters.

CHILDCARE

Childcare will be offered at this meeting.  You must register in advance so we know how many children are coming and the proper number of childcare staff can be on hand.
