ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

Location:    Griffin Island / Great Island / Chequessett Neck Road Bridge

• This notice is to inform the public of an upcoming road closures the week of July 13th that are required to remove temporary bridge components at the active construction of the Chequessett  Neck Road Bridge.  This closure will result in no vehicular traffic being able to access on or off Griffin Island during the discrete time periods indicated below.
• An additional closure will be required for one day the week of August 10th to complete the work. An additional notification will be issued in advance to specify the exact date & time of that closure.
• Police & Fire Details are scheduled to be onsite during these times, and an Incident Action Plan has been developed for this closure should the need arise for emergency response on Griffin or Great Island.

Sequence & Schedule

Dates of Closures:   Tuesday July 14th & Wednesday July 15th     Rain Date if needed: Thursday July 16th
 

Estimated Time of Closure:   Closure to start at 7:00 AM each day and last 4-8 hours each day.
 

Sequence:   MIG construction will mobilize a crane onto the new bridge at 7: 00 in the morning to remove 
temporary bridge sec,ons. Once each sec,on is removed the crane will move off the new bridge allowing 
traffic to resume that day. All efforts will be made to perform this work as quickly and as safely as possible  to limit impacts to the public and those residents of Griffin Island. 
 

Advisory: The public is advised that any vehicle that is on Griffin Island at the time the closure begins will not be able to leave the island until after the work is completed. To avoid this, we encourage all visitors to  be off the island by 7AM on each of these days. A police officer will  sweep the Great Island and Duck Harbor Beach parking lots prior to  shut down to assist the public.
