Community Preservation Act Funding of Wellfleet Historical Commission’s Projects

COMMUNITY PRESERVATION ACT FUNDING OF WELLFLEET HISTORICAL COMMISSION PROJECTS

The Historical Commission is grateful to the Town for funding a variety of historic preservation initiatives under the Community Preservation Act (CPA). The CPA permits communities to assess a surcharge of three percent on the municipal property tax for the following four purposes: preserving open space providing affordable housing; preserving historical resources; and providing outdoor recreation facilities. The Commonwealth contributes additional funds annually to supplement the local contribution. The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) recommends to the Town Meeting “those projects which it feels will best achieve the purpose of the Community Preservation act legislation consistent with the Town’s long term planning goals.

The Wellfleet Historical Commission has submitted five projects to the CPC all of which were recommended by the CPC for approval of the Town Meeting.
