Director of Community Services

The Town of Wellfleet seeks a qualified and passionate individual for the Director of Community Services position.  This position is responsible for planning, development, management and administration of a town-wide recreation, beach, and human services on a year-round basis, including the management of facilities and overall coordination of events for participants of all ages including nutritional, education and social programs for the Town’s elder population.  The Town has a very active participating population.

Under the administrative direction of the Town Administrator and the policy direction of the Council on Aging (COA) and Recreation Commission, this position oversees all aspects of the COA Director.

This position requires a minimum of a Masters degree preferably in Recreation Management, Leisure, Elder Services, Gerontology, Business Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related field of knowledge; a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of prior work experience preferably in a municipal recreation or elder service setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.  This position requires a Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.  CORI certification is required as a condition of employment.

Facilities/Grounds Foreperson

The Town of Wellfleet, MA is seeking to hire a Facilities/Grounds Foreperson in the Department of Public Works. This is a permanent, full time (40 hours per week) Teamsters Union position and includes weekends. Knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing and masonry work.  Ability to prepare and read design plans and estimate job costs. Must have knowledge in Word, Excel, and other software for maintaining facilities. Must be able to deal with the public and other employees tactfully and effectively. Must be able to communicate clearly (orally, and in writing) and work with the public, staff, and administration. Must be able to perform moderately heavy manual work and use a variety of hand and power tools. Working independently and/or have the ability to supervise one or more staff members in a project or task.

An unrestricted Construction Supervisors License is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a municipal position similar in nature is desired. The starting wage is between $38.00 - $42.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience plus an excellent benefit package. Beach Program

Parking lot attendants: applicants aged 14 and over are needed to check Beach stickers as cars enter parking lots. Applicants must possess excellent customer service skills.  Experience working with the public a plus. Applicants must be able to work outside in both hot, sunny conditions and chilly, windy conditions, tolerate hours of standing and have the ability to lift and move 30 pounds. Reliable transportation needed. Five shifts per week from 9am to 4pm. Part- time available. Starting at $18/hour. 6/20 through Labor Day. One weekend day required.

Ocean Lifeguards: applicants age 16 and over are needed to work at Wellfleet’s ocean beaches as lifeguards.  Applicants must possess current American Red Cross LGT and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.  Previous Ocean Lifeguard experience a plus.  Applicants must be able to work outside in both hot and sunny conditions as well as chilly, windy conditions.  Five shifts per week available, 9am to 5pm, part time available.  Starting at $20/hour depending on experience.  One weekend day per week required.

Wellfleet Fire Department 

The town of Wellfleet is seeking qualified candidates for full-time positions of Firefighter/Paramedic.

  • Starting Salary range: $79,523 - $114,199
  • Lateral Transfers Possible
  • Minimum Massachusetts EMT-P certification required
  • Preference will be given to candidates with training equivalent to Firefighter I/II
