RESIDENTIAL EXEMPTION FOR Fiscal Year 2023

Please be aware of filing requirements and deadlines for fiscal year 2023

Residents who are domiciled as of January 1, 2023 and who have not already done so are reminded to file qualifying paperwork with the Assessor’s office by September 1, 2023 in order for the residential tax exemption to appear on your October 2023 tax bill, should the exemption again be voted in.

Required documentation:

Copy of your 2022 Massachusetts income tax return.  Those using a P.O. Box may be asked to provide additional documentation linking you to your street address in order to prove domicile.

  • Vehicle registration(s) 

Paperwork only needs to be filed ONCE.  If you have any questions as to whether you have filed, please contact us.  The application can be found under the “Forms and Permits” tab on the Town website’s home page.

DEADLINES:

September 1, 2023 Last day to submit documentation to have the exemption applied on 1st and 2nd half tax bills.

March 1, 2023         Last day to submit documentation to have the entire year’s exemption applied on the 2nd half tax bill.

April 1, 2024            Last day to submit documentation to qualify for the residential exemption for fiscal year 2024. 

Documentation received between March 1st and April 1st will result in a partial refund of your taxes after the May 1 due date.

Documentation received after April 1st will qualify you for the following fiscal year should the Selectboard vote to adopt the exemption.
