Welcome, Introductions and Announcements

  • Note:  WHC members may visit project sites and view the exterior of each property during the week before each monthly meeting.  As we make decisions about proposals, we refer to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
  • 1) 46 East Commercial Street (1870): Proposal to demolish and rebuild detached garage in same footprint and follow current building codes;  the pitch of the roof will be the same although the height is increased.  The WHC met about this proposal on 5/11/22, and the proposal was continued to 6/1/22 for a redesign that will incorporate elements of the old structure into the new building.  (Presenter: Cotuit Bay Design; Property owners: Octavio Diaz & Paul Foran)
  • 2). 130 School Street (c. 1820):  Proposal to modify the exterior rear elevation of middle                 barn as follows:  1. Eliminate existing 30”x77” rear door, 2. Eliminate existing 12 over 12 40”x 62” window, 3.  Add four additional 6 over 6 32”x 44” windows symmetrically spaced (Presenters/Owners: Brian Uy and Doriot Kim).
  • 3). 55 Railroad Avenue (c. 1876):  Proposal to add dormers at rear, and relocate door and windows at porch (Presenter/Owner: Gordon Kahn (who will recuse himself).
  • 4). Discussion of Gordon and Merrill’s meeting with Wellfleet Building Commissioner re: frequency of WHC Meetings, issues of structural integrity, and historic preservation on the FEMA flood plain.
