Mayo Creek Restoration Committee               Meeting Minutes 6/11/15

Present: John Riehl, Walter Baron, Pat Winslow,  Jake Puffer, John Portnoy

5:00 PM

- Feed back from Conservation Commission meeting.

            - Provide information about the importance of wetland restoration.

                        *Possible fact sheet provided by Conservation Commission

- HVCC appeal of the Conservation Commission’s ruling to DEP

            -Possibility of delaying meeting in front of Board of Selectmen until appeal is heard

-Disscusion of HVCC letter to the Board of Selectmen

            -John Riehl will draft a letter in response

-Possible revisions for “the Case for Restoration” Document to be provided to Selectmen

-Discussion of letter from HVCC regarding well testing expenses.

            -Possibility of setting up a meeting with Dave Bennett and HVCC

-John Portnoy spoke about the initial measurements from the water level recorders.          

- Try to calculate the volume of water that outflows from mayo creek basin now and under restoration

-Discussion about optimal drainage

            -optimal drainage remains unachieved by simply opening the duckbill

            -saltwater plants prefer total drainage, unrestricted at low tide

-Ask WHG about modeling of Mayo Creek with the low tide, as low as possible
