THE RECYCLING PLAZA HAS REOPENED.

This does not mean that the entire Transfer Station has reopened yet.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

Wellfleet has temporarily switched its recycling to Single Stream.  What does that mean?

It means that you can put your Cardboard, Mixed Paper, Plastic Containers, Tin cans, and Glass Containers all into one place.  Our goal is to get people in and out of the facility quickly and safely during this health emergency.

The type of items that can be recycled HAS NOT changed.  You just get to put most of them into one place. As always, items must be clean and dry in order to be recycled.

Go to recyclesmartma.org for questions on what is recyclable.

Bulky Rigid Plastics and all black plastics are NOT part of Single Stream and must still be separated into the Bulky Rigid Plastic Bin which has a temporary new home, closer to the Trash Hopper, and its own parking spot.

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW.

To promote social distancing, we have blocked several of the parking spaces in the recycling area.  We have added two dumpsters with additional parking spaces over by the swap shop.  These are for Single Stream recycling as well.

You can use either the compactors or the dumpsters for recycling, it does not matter.

You must use a designated parking space.  Only one vehicle at a time per drop-off point.

Please always keep 6 feet apart from others.

The Returnable Bottles and Cans area is still closed.

As always, the Recycling Area will close at 3:30 every day.

UNIVERSAL WASTE

The table to drop off batteries, mercury, fluorescent bulbs, anti-freeze, motor oil, latex and oil-based paint and stain IS OPEN.

However, there is a separate parking space which you must use to access it.  There will be a sign as you come in pointing toward the spot.

COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS

The Commercial Recycling compactor IS OPEN.  It has been changed to Single Stream recycling.

RESIDENTIAL FOOD WASTE COMPOSTING

We have been able to continue Residential Food Waste Composting.  The GREEN Food Waste Compost bins will be put out between recycling spots.  The same rules as before apply to what goes into the bin.  NO BAGS OR TRASH PLEASE.

OTHER AREAS

Once Recycling is up and running well, we will work on reopening the backyard and all its areas. Equipment is on the way to allow us to be able to handle transactions at the scale house.

Thank you for being patient and please be safe.
