Meeting Minutes for January 9, 2018

Meeting called to order at 11:00 am.

MINUTES

1. Outer Cape Organics Pilot meeting and status from Kari.

a. First step - arrange meeting with Dennis DPW to discuss details of using Dennis DPW as central

location for towns to drop off toters and Watts Family Farm to pick them up (Kari, Dennis

DPW, Watts). Issues to discuss include cleaning toters after tipping and tallying toters in/out by

town.

b. Brewster has also expressed interest.

c. Watts sells new toters for $80, used for $30. Idea is for each town to pay for 2 sets, one to

drop off full, other to pick up empty. Toters will be pooled together, not marked by town. Cost

per 64 gal. bin is $20.

d. Next step will be to meet with Boards of Health. After that, create timeline, use RDP funds for

equipment, publicity, education, resident countertop bins.

2. Water fountain/bottle filling stations.

a. Lydia & Christine attended Dec 19 th Water Commissioners Meeting. Potential locations are

Town Hall, Marina, Baker’s Field, Senior Center. WC to pursue grant options with Care for the

Cape and Islands (due Jan 12 th ), MassDEP, others. Questions for Kari: are there MA qualified

vendors, can RDP funds be used.

b. DPW has installed a new water fountain/bottle filling station in the Town Hall basement hall

way. Per Paul Lindberg other units will also be replaced; no timeline yet.

3. EL Harvey tour on Wed Jan 10 th , Bethia, Lonni, Christine & Lydia attending.

4. MassDEP SMRP survey completion Jan 2 - Feb 15. Website updates required in March. Grant

applications April – mid-June. Lydia to check with DPW regarding survey status.

5. Phil Goddard (Bourne DPW) has applied for MassDEP Latex Paint recycling grant on behalf of all the

Cape towns.

6. Fixit Clinic scheduled for Sat Jan 27 th .

a. Kari to check if RDP points or SMRF grant program can be used to cover tool and supplies

costs.

b. To publicize event, Wellfleet Community Space, Wellfleet Forum.

7. Boomerang Bags sewing bee scheduled for Fri January 26 th . Not enough sewers for kids only event,

so open to all sewers.

8. Chamber of Commerce guide ad: half page ad costs $315, expenditure approved.

9. Lydia to discuss RC budget with Dan Hoort. Also discuss availability of RDP funds (2017 $8,400) with

Mark Vincent. RC costs are largely for publication of educational materials.

10. Polystyrene Bylaw follow-up. Two versions of bylaw sent, Town Clerk straightening out. Asst.

Health Agent preparing letter to local businesses in preparation for June 1 st bylaw implementation.

11. Jane will be away March & April, Robin is away Jan – April.

12. December minutes reviewed and approved.
