WCT, Denny OConnell:  A new property on Lt Island has been made available by the Balch/Pickardi family (Map 41-lot 180). It is a small piece but with views of Old Wharf Point suitable for bench placement.

New member of WCT Board of Trustees:  Curt Felix

Capital campaign for the Drummer Cove link lot is getting into full swing.

CPC Bob Jackson:  Bob Jones of Orleans is developing Cape Cod village for autistic children on 4 acres of property behind Mid Cape in Orleans. Orleans CPC has committed $350,000 to the project and Jones is seeking funds from Wellfleet and other towns to support his efforts, hoping the project can be regional.

Old Business

Five Year Plan: Brian and Nancy have completed revision of the plan and OSC members will be emailed copies to review. The public survey of open space needs and the initial Five year plan will be presented to the BOS at its Nov 10 meeting.  A public hearing on the document will be scheduled later in Nov.  It was suggested that letters of support from other relevant organizations be included (ConsCom, WCT, CCNS, NRAB, etc.). Committee members will contact groups for this support.

Project with Wellfleet Elementary School:  Bob Jackson.  It appears that time available for in-class programs is very limited. Audubon and CCNS provide some classroom activity that reflects our goals.

Bob suggested that, as an alternative, we develop a student related search list or “treasure hunt” sheet to accompany the Trail guides. To start this project, OSC members will each visit the Fox Island site and come up with suggestions that might be include on the sheet.
