The meeting was called to order at 4:00 PM.

  1. Shellfish Building.Discussion referenced the appraisal by Appraisal Company of Cape Cod, which valued the structure at zero dollars and an email from the Building Inspector, which noted that the renovated structure or a replacement structure would have to be in full compliance with all codes.Mr. Donoghue stated his opinion that the cost to bring the structure into compliance would be substantial.Mr. Guilderson noted that sea level rise will make a structure in that location increasingly vulnerable over time and suggested that if any thought is given to keeping any structure in that area sea level rise should be considered. On motion of Mr. Horowitz, seconded by Mr. Guilderson, it was voted to leave the Committee’s January 27, 2017 recommendation for this building unchanged. (4 – 0).

  2. Old Council on Aging Building.Mr. Hoort asked at what point the Committee should become involved in the future use of the old COA building. The Committee discussed an program to do a space needs assessment for all of town government in order to determine the most critical space needs and whether and how they might be met by a reconstruction of the old COA.It was noted that such a study would require engaging professional services to properly execute it.Mr. Guilderson discussed the fire station construction process and how space needs were established for that project. The consensus of the Committee was that if the Selectmen have a specific use in mind, the Committee should review it.
