Open Space Committee  4 PM, November 14, 2017     Wellfleet Town Hall 

Present:  Bruce Hurter, Bob Jackson, Lynn Southey, Tom Slack, Liz MacDonald

Call to order: 4:05pm

Agenda accepted.

Minutes of Oct. 17, 2017 meeting: Approved with corrections.

Reports

Chair: Bruce Hurter.  An article has been submitted for inclusion in ATM Warrant to protect two Town properties under Cons Com: Map 30, lot 186  and lot 188.  See discussion in previous minutes.

Vice Chair: Tom Slack.  Discussed the upcoming Local Comprehensive Plan public meeting on 11/18/17 to further define goals of a number of specific areas identified as important in planning for the town.  Open Space will be represented at one of the group discussion tables.

Trail Guides: R Jackson/L Southey.   Will be available at LCP meeting.

Liaison Reports

WCT: B. Hurter. Property on Aaron Rich Rd is being evaluated. Currently it is unbuildible as there is no access. It abuts WCT property.

FHR: L Southey.  No recent meeting.  Permitting process is in progress. List of  Stakeholders group is available. (LS will e-mail to those interested)

HP :  Units on Gull Pond Road are all rented - 60+ applications.

CPC :    All proposals due for Nov meeting.

NRAB    Coastal and Pond access document is being finalized and will be submitted to BOS.  Letter to BOS is being written regarding Climate Change as it will affect our natural resources. NRAB is working with the Climate Change group recently organized in Town.

Old Business

Agger property on Lt. Island.  Bruce, Denny and John Riehl are in ongoing discussions with family as to best way to honor their desire to preserve the property.

Oyster propagation - see previous minutes.  Property sought has been sold. Other options will be pursued.

OSC  “5 year” Plan.   Bruce and Tom met with Brian Carlson and Doug Guey-Lee

to review some of the final steps needed to complete the plan as directed in a letter from the State.  This should be completed soon. We are unable to receive grant money from the State for property acquisition without final approval.

Properties for Consideration

Map 46- 19.  Hatches Creek/ Audubon area.  Discussion with Audubon officials regarding disposition of this property as well as 2 properties on Lieutenant Island.
