Residents are reminded to file qualifying paperwork with the Assessor’s office by September 1, 2019 in order for the residential tax exemption to appear on your October 2019 tax bill, should the exemption again be voted in.
Required documentation is a copy of your Massachusetts income tax return, driver’s license, and vehicle registration. Those using a P.O. Box may be asked to provide additional documentation linking you to your street address in order to prove domicile.
The exemption is NOT automatic. If you received the exemption in FY19 but have not produced your paperwork, you will NOT see the exemption on your Fall tax bill. The application can be found under the “Forms and Permits” tab on the Town website’s home page.
- Documentation received between March 1st and April 1st will result in a partial refund of your taxes after they have been paid.
- Documentation received after April 1st will qualify you for the fiscal year 2021 residential exemption should the Selectboard vote to adopt for FY 2021.
