Wellfleet Historical Commission May 11, 2022 meeting agenda:

This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom Video Conference, in accordance with the temporary suspension and enhancement of the Open Meeting Law requirements by Governor Baker.

Welcome, Introductions and Announcements

  • Note:  WHC members may visit project sites and view the exterior of each property during the week before each monthly meeting.  As we make decisions about proposals, we refer to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

1) 355 Main Street (1850): Proposal to demolish historic chimney.  This property is located within Wellfleet’s National Register Historic District. (Property owner: Frances Francis)

2) 46 East Commercial Street (1870): This property is located within Wellfleet Center’s National Register Historic District. Proposal to demolish and rebuild detached garage in same footprint, height, and design. (Presenter: Cotuit Bay Design; Property owners: Octavio Diaz & Paul Foran)

3) 70 Main Street (1810-1939):  This property is located within Wellfleet Center’s National Register Historic District. Proposal to replace existing roofs of all buildings (Holbrook-Hawes House, Duck Creek Tavern, Hodge Podge House, Saltworks House, Duck Creek Stable) with Charcoal Black asphalt shingle roofing, and to replace a flat rubber roof with like-for-like materials.  (Presenter: Muto Construction; Property owner: John O’Toole, Fitzgerald Hill LLC)

4) 84 Commercial Street (1850):  This property is located within Wellfleet Center’s National Register Historic District.  Proposal to replace front deck and side entrance deck with composite materials. Presenter: Thor Construction; Property Owner:  Bradford Condominium Trust)

5) 15 Squire’s Pond Lane (1850):  Proposal to completely demolish and rebuild section of historic building that owner previously agreed to preserve in prior WHC meetings and Building Permit application.  (Presenter/Property Owner: Ricardo Rovero)

6) 51 Mill Hill Road (1925):  Proposal to demolish existing deck, reduce size, expand staircase, and replace with pressure-treated wood and steel cable horizontal balusters. (Presenter/Property Owner: Timothy Curley-Egan, who will recuse himself)
