Shellfish Advisory Board

January 22, 2018

Present: Barbara Austin (chair), Thomas Siggia, John Duane, Brett Morse, Rebecca Taylor

Regrets: Zack Dixon, Jake Puffer, James O’Connell

Others in Attendance: Nancy Civetta, John Mankevetch, Bruce Cole Morton, Ed and Sue Tesson, Barbara Brennessel, Mike Kubiak, Bob Wallace, Dave Seitler, Jude Ahern, Michele Insley

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM

1. Minutes - due to Z. Dixon being ill with the flu, the December minutes will be reviewed next month.

   2. Shellfish Department update

   N. Civetta gave an update on the 2019 Budget, Management and Propagation, Wild Fisheries, Grant Update, Dredging, Enforcement, Events, Communication & Documentation , and Outreach & Education.

   Shellfish Budget request - N. Civetta reviewed the shellfish departments budget request for 2019.  Key focus on propagation and part time employee to monitor Indian Neck recreational shellfish area.

   J. Duane made motion to send a letter of support to town administrator and selectmen board , B. Austin 2nd, all in favor 5-0.

   Letter will be sent by Wednesday .

   3. Letter concerning offshore drilling

   board reviewed letter prepared by J. Duane to Governor Charlie Baker.

   B. Austin made motion to approve letter and forward ASAP, all in favor 5-0.

   4. Shellfish Management Plan - No discussion due to time constraint. B. Austin asked board to consider a morning session to discuss.

   5. Future concerns and issues

   Beach cleanup date, FHR - should we co-sponsor, Wet Storage - meet with state.

   Next meeting is February 7, 2018.
