Mayo Creek Restoration Committee
Present: John Riehl, John Portnoy, Jake Puffer, Walter Baron, Pat Winslow
-Review meeting agenda
-Motion to approve minutes from 7/18/17 with amendments Jake Puffer, second Pat Winslow pass

-Review draft presentation for abutters meeting to be held on August 14th
-Not all abutters are familiar with project;
-History and role of Mayo Creek Restoration Committee
-Reasons for new integrated approach
-Motion to approve presentation Walter Baron, Second Jake Puffer, pass 4-0
-Motion to approve reply letter to Mr, Shepard and Mr. Bennett Walter Baron, Second Jake Puffer

-John Riel stated that there has been no feedback yet about the reasons for not accepting the MET
grant proposal
-Steve Coyne questioned the flow in the creek and where it would be generated from? Is there a
proposal to dig out the stream?
-John Riehl stated that the creek would be open to tidal water and channels would have to be dug to
help with drainage on the ebb tide
-John Portnoy added that in order to get as low a tide as possible lateral creeks would have to be dug
similar to those used by the mosquito control presently
-Discussion of hydrology symposium
-Outside experts identify critical issues, identify where there is need for further work
-Buoyancy risk of buried septics/septic components
-effect of tide on sodium levels in wells
-Work toward a consensus on data
-What additional data is needed?
-Dave Bennett stated that the data is the data and wants an outside opinion
