Minutes Marina Advisory Committee
September 19, 2018

Meeting was called to order at 7:04
Venue: Town hall meeting room
Announcements, Open Session and Public Comments
- Walter reported that there has been no meeting of the Mayo Creek Restoration Project since the last MAC meeting. A meeting is scheduled for October 4
- The 2018 Rowing Rendezvous will take place on Saturday September 29 at Mayo Beach from noon until 4 pm. Joseph and Martha will help as photographers and providing a safety boat.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the August 2, 2018, meeting were approved with corrections
Martha moved; Walter seconded. Unanimous approval.
Harbormaster’s Report
- The marina has quieted down after the summer season.
- Steven Swain was given more information on permits required to dredge the black mayonnaise. (See minutes of August 2, 2018.)
- The Harbormaster said help from the committee would be welcomed during Oysterfest. Parking at the marina during the Oysterfest will be $20.00, the same as last year.
Proposal to Purchase 3 Kendrick Ave. Property
At town meeting on September 24 voters will be asked to approve the purchase of 3 Kendrick Avenue. This property is contiguous to the marina and Mayo Beach which are also town property.
Motion: The Marina Advisory Committee supports the Board of Selectmen in the purchase of 3 Kendrick Avenue for purposes that support the needs of the marina, the shellfish department, and the town.
Walter moved; Frederick (Flip) seconded; For 5, Opposed 1.
Dredging Update
The Army Corps of Engineers has 60 days to develop a list of ports to be dredged in the fall of 2019. Congress will be creating a budget that will include dredging for small ports.
Parking Task Force
Joseph and the Harbormaster attended a meeting of the Parking Task Force. Denny O’Connell is Chair and Dale Donovan is Vice- Chair of this committee. Joseph is a member. At this meeting Joseph educated the task force on parking issues at the marina, including all the various groups that park at the marina. He hopes that the task force now better understands the problems boaters have with finding parking at the marina. The task force will convene again on October 17 at 4pm. It will meet every two weeks.
