Harbormasters Report
The Harbormaster has a new truck
The Harbormaster and his staff are continuing to prepare the marina for the winter,
The new Assistant Harbor master, Will Sullivan, is working out well.
Probably due to the mild weather there are still quite a few boats in the marina.
Brent Valli’s barge is in a slip at the marina and fees for this have been paid.
Dredging Update
Paul Pilcher, a member of the Dredging Task Force, gave a presentation on the dredging of Wellfleet Harbor at the State of the Harbor Conference on November 4
In response to a question from Tom Flynn, the county dredge is not effective in Wellfleet Marina.
It is still not clear what amount the State will contribute to dredging.Since the time of the Romney administration there are no State funds directly allocated for marina dredging. However, if the federal government dredges the channel, the State may be more inclined to contribute.
The permits which have been issued for dredging are valid for 10 years and there is a stipulation that maintenance dredging can be done for 10 years.
On November 25th there was a meeting with Dan Hoort, the Town Administrator, Brian Carlson, the Assistant Town Administrator, the BOS, Joseph Aberdale, and Paul Pilcher concerning dredging. The main concern was with permitting in place what will our political representatives do to help with funding.
New Business and Future Concerns
John Wolfe said when he last checked the slip waiting list on the Marina website it had the list for 2015.The Harbormaster explained that the website was updated two months ago.
John will be in DC in early January and is willing to organize a meeting with our political representatives on funding for dredging.
Meeting adjourned at 7:32
John moved; Walter seconded; Unanimous approval.
Next MAC meeting will be in the spring. The date to be determined.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Alice Iacuessa, Secretary
