Wellfleet Council on Aging

Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 5PM

The Wellfleet Historical Commission met at the Wellfleet Senior Center on August 1, 2018.

Present: Co-Chairs Maria Burks and Lydia Vivante, Tom Siggia, and Anne Freyss. Carol Ubriaco and Nick Watkins were absent.

Also present: Justin Post, Building Inspector for the Town of Wellfleet, Jude Ahern, and Amy Roberts.

Chair Vivante called the meeting to order at 5:06 pm.

 Re: 150 Chequessett Neck Road property — Anne Freyss moved and Maria Burks seconded the motion to submit a letter asking for this property to be considered for National Register nomination. The motion passed unanimously. Amy Roberts, who is considering the purchase of this property, queried the Commission regarding possible “hurdles” to remodeling and upgrading the building. This was an informal discussion.

The Historic Preservation Workshop to be held September 13, 2018 was the next item on the agenda. ‘Save the Date’ notice will go out late August, as will publicity to the newspapers. It was agreed to donate $50 for use of the space at Preservation Hall, give an honorarium of $250 to speaker Eric Dray, to spend $150 approximately on publicity, to request and pay up to $200 for video-taping of the event (Tom Cole?). There is $1000 available for this Workshop.

Maria Burks moved and Tom Siggia seconded the motion to approve the minutes of July 11, 2018. All were in favor.
