Wellfleet Historical Commission

Public Meeting

Wednesday, April 5, 2017 – 5:00PM

Present: Lydia Vivante (co-chair), Maria Burks (co-chair), Thomas Siggia, Anne Freyss,

Jeff Tash, Dan Ranalli

Absent: Nicholas Watkins

L. Vivante called the meeting to order at 5:00PM.

210 Baker Avenue, advisory opinion on rear dormer and facade window replacement

Trevor Pontbriand representing owners reviewed the window replacement proposal.

Discussion revolved around the importance of the historical value of windows, the importance

of saving trim and advisory opinion from Sarah Korjeff with recommendations.

J. Tash made motion to approve window replacement proposal, M Burks 2nd, all in favor 6-0.

Cross Gables rear dormer proposal by commission members that the owner retain the gables

as built or adopt the hybrid alternative proposed by the architect was rejected by owner.

Members discussed the importance of maintaining the historic gables, as exist on its

neighbor/twin Bank Street ( Periwinkle building) .

Preferably preserved option was discussed.

We explained to Trevor the actions the members are leaning towards which include

demolition delay for one year, holding a hearing, etc. He asked for time to review with owner

and will return to discuss at our May meeting.

75 Cahoon Hollow Road, proposed demolition.

Alison Alessi representing owners reviewed the demolition proposal. Home is on a 1.8 acre

lot. Owners will divide into 2 lots and build homes.

The present home has no historical significance . Built around 1930 with

many changes throughout the years. Home is not in a historic district and is not easily seen

from a public way.

M Burks made motion to approve demolition, A Freyss 2nd, all in favor 6-0.

Outreach to Owners of Historic Properties

– Mailing

– Pamet Point Road Form b's/ update on National Registry

– Nomination project

1.) M Burks reviewed the lables being used for the mailing to Owners of Historic

properties. She noted the labels were printed from a database that needs to be

adjusted to reflect proper names and addresses.

2.) J Tash will make changes in database and sort addresses on homes built before

1942.

The status of the possible National Register nomination and Pamet Point Road

Form B's will be reviewed at next meeting.

Annual Town Meeting Warrant articles

- Article 20, CPC historic preservation projects( Plan, Form B

update, and Pamet Point Road Area nomination.

– Article 30, Proposal to extend Wellfeet's demolition delay bylaw to

18 months

- Article 19, cementary preservation phase – M. Burks made motion

to approve, T Siggia 2nd all in favor 6-0.

April 18 Wellfleet Community Forum Pre-town meeting

April 24 Wellfleet Annual Town Meeting

Secretary's Report

February and March minutes were reviewed . A.Freyss made motion to approve, M. Burks

2nd, all in favor 6-0

Treasurer's Report

No Treasury report. Will check with new town accountant on balance.
