  2. Discussion of the Library Reading Room Project.Mr. Terkanian updated the Committee on the project status. The Library Trustees had decided to postpone the project pending review of the library’s overall plan. The architect has been notified by the Town Administrator that the Town will not be proceeding with the project.

  3. Shellfish Building.Mr. Terkanian reported on the discussion at the February 28, 2017 Board of Selectmen’s meeting on the subject. There is some support on the Board for making efforts to save the building. Some members of the Board were of the opinion that the Shellfish Building was sound and was representative of the spirit of Wellfleet.Mr. Murphy outlined a possible “bare bones” rehab of the building so that it could be leased by the Town for sale of food.Food would be limited to items prepared off site.Mr. Murphy acknowledged that there are challenging issues, which would have to be resolved, including septic requirements and whether deed restrictions prohibit the potential use of the building for this purpose.Mr. Guilderson outlined possible rehabilitation, renovation or restoration of the building as a historic structure and noted that classifying the building as historic would result in significant additional project requirements.Mr. Murphy was asked whether the Board of Selectmen was seeking further action by this Committee regarding the building. He responded in the negative, but indicated that if the Board was able to advance the project they may seek additional comment from the Committee.

  4. Old Council on Aging Building.Mr. Terkanian noted that the Board of Selectmen did not discuss the status of this building at their February 28th meeting beyond generally concurring with the Committee’s recommendation that the existing structure is of no value and could be removed.
