He mentioned putting together a presentation to create public awareness. The Communication Strategy item will be an ongoing agenda item.

Discussion: Recycling Committee Initiatives/Water Fountain Refill Stations: Guests Lydia Vivante & Christine Shreeves

Lydia Vivante from the Recycling Committee was present to discuss the installation of Water Fountain Refill stations within the Town. She discussed with the Board the possibility of applying for grants with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, as well as the US Food and Drug Administration. She presented handouts of an Action Plan for the Town of Falmouth Public Water Stations and a Draft Plan for the Town of Wellfleet. She conveyed that Provincetown had their fountain paid for by CARE for the Cape and Islands.

She stated that the Recycling Committee would like to see the stations at highly trafficked areas such as Town Hall or Baker’s Field. Hood suggested that a filling station would be beneficial during a power outage. The Board discussed the benefits of reusable water bottles and that it would be a more cost-effective solution to reordering water dispensers in Town Hall.

Vivante proposed reaching out to other Town offices, and Hood recommended a joint meeting with the Selectmen.

Vivante and the Board decided that she should return for the Board of Water Commissioner’s October 17th meeting.

Oysterfest Booth/Signage

The Board requested contacting Miteva about a sign/promotion of Town Water. The Board reviewed the facts about Municipal Water System Handout.

Water Storage Tank Generator

Felix reports that the noise was Transformer Number 2 from Eversource on Gross Hill Road. There are sound barriers, but the barriers project the noise. Felix reported that it isn’t from the water towers, and Eversource has been notified.
