Commissioners Present:  Chair Justina Carlson, Neil Gadwa, James Hood, Catharie Nass, James Hood, Curt Felix

Chair Carlson called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.

Wastewater and Water Commission Warrant Article: Path Forward:

The Board discussed a meeting held between Town Administrator Dan Hoort, Assistant T.A. Brian Carlson,  Curt Felix and the Comprehensive Wastewater Management Planning Committee. Felix thought it was a productive conversation regarding the need for a professional hire. They agreed to follow up with Scott Horsely of the Horsely-Witten Group and have a job description prepared. Felix said that he will request Horsley to put together a scope of services.

Nass suggested keeping the Warrant Article on an as an agenda item, and Chair Carlson proposed the name Communication Strategy, replacing Path Forward as the agenda name.

Discussion: Recycling Committee Initiatives/Town Water Fountains and Public Water Accessibility: The Board would like to explore different options with the DPW, and will talk with the Town’s Plumbing Inspector about what the project would entail and cost.

OysterFest Booth/Signage:

Hood and Nass would like to attend OysterFest to help answer any questions the public may have about Town water. Felix will contact Michele Insley of SPAT about Town representation , and the Board agreed to find out about signage and booth availability.

Discussion: Handout from EWG

The Commissioners reviewed the Environmental Working Group (EWG) press release dated August 3, 2017. They discussed that Wellfleet’s  figures contained the lowest number of contaminants in Barnstable County. Hood suggested signage be posted at the OysterFest stating that the Town water is the best quality on Cape Cod.
